Dr. Ernst G. Frankel (past contributor)
Dr. Frankel holds doctorates in Transport Economics was well as in Operations Research. He is Professor Emeritus of both Ocean Systems and of Management at MIT. He has served as advisor for Port, Shipping, and Aviation at the World Bank; Chairman of American President Lines; Director at NOL, American Eagle Tankers and APL Ltd.; Director of Ocean Futures Foundation; and Project Manager for over 62 major projects. Dr. Frankel was responsible for the feasibility study of the Port of the Americas in 2000.

The firm's expertise includes ports and harbors, marinas and urban waterfronts. In the area of port development, the firm's clients have included the Port of Long Beach and the Port of Los Angeles in California; the Port of Seattle, Washington; Houston, Texas; Port Everglades, Florida; Valparaíso, Chile and the Freeport Container Terminal in the Bahamas, among others.

Ocean Shipping Consultants LTD., headquartered in London, is a maritime market analysis firm. The company serves as a consultant for maritime projects and produces analytical reports on international trade for leading maritime firms, ports, financial institutions, and others. It conducted the market and traffic studies for the Port of the Americas.

CB Richard Ellis (land development advisor)
CB Richard Ellis, headquartered in California, is the largest commercial real estate firm in the world. It employs 14,000 people who work in 250 offices in 48 countries. The firm has been retained by the Puerto Rico Industrial Development Company to attract investment to the value-added areas being developed for the Port of the Americas. The Puerto Rico Industrial Development Company is the public corporation responsible for developing the industrial parks that will surround the Port of the Americas in coordination with the Port of the Americas Authority.

Iglesias Vázquez and Associates is a company of integrated professional services in architecture, engineering and planning, with licensed specialists in the three fields producing integrated designs. In conjunction with Moffatt & Nichol, the firm is responsible for designing the Port of the Americas. IVA has retained the services of Suelos Inc. and Geocim to prepare all soil testing and evaluations

Eng. Axel Bonilla (resident inspector)
For more han 14 years the office of Axel Bonilla Cortés, P.E. has been involved in the inspection, management and supervision of projects.
Their engineering staff has more than 50 years of combined experience in inspection and the construction industry.

Nelson A. Hidalgo Consulting Engineers (previously H2A Engineers, P.S.C.)
Technical reviewer
Provides civil and structural design services for the construction industry in Puerto Rico. H2A was responsible for the design of the reconstruction of Piers 4, 5, and 6 in the Port of Ponce. The firm has retained the services of Mr. Salvador Marquéz, Esq. as land assembly consultant and Eng. René Garrastazú, P.E. as the electrical engineering reviewer.

CSA Group (environmental advisor)
CSA Group was founded 45 years ago. It provides consulting services in engineering, architecture, environmental services and construction in Puerto Rico and the continental United States. It is responsible for obtaining the federal, state and municipal permits needed for the development and construction of the Port. The permit process and environmental studies, which began in 2001, should conclude in 2004 and has so far required and investment of $17 million.

Responsible for the construction of the First Phase of the Port of the Americas.

Weeks Marine (dredging contractor)
Responsible for the dredging project being constructed at the Ponce Bay.

Del Valle Group, S.P.
(i) Responsible for the construction of Phase II of the Port of the Americas, rehabilitation of a container terminal adjacent to Piers 4,5 and 6, with a capacity of 250,000 TEU's.
(ii) In charge of the construction of the alternate access road to the port.
(iii) Responsible for Phase III A, an $84.5M project that includes the infrastructure of PERCON, port value added designated area and the expansion of the terminal capacity to 500,000 TEU's per year.
